Memorial Park near Pescadero, CA offers some of the best family camping in the Bay Area. Nestled in the Santa Cruz Mountains along Pescadero Creek, visitors can camp next first growth redwoods. Memorial Park is also the oldest San Mateo County Park, and the designation recognizes the sacrifices of soldiers in WWI. Pescadero State Beach is an excellent destination only six miles downstream from Memorial Park. It protects the beaches and marshlands of Pescadro Creek Estuary. Enjoy this photo essay.
The Legion Flat picnic area protects massive trees including this hollowed out redwood. Kids and adults can walk inside the fallen tree.
Dinner under the trees is excellent for all.
Cooking in the fire rings is fun for all and an excellent prelude to smores
Just downstream from Memorial Park is Pescadero State Beach. Pescadero Creek flows into the ocean next to a rock arch.
